My 4th Great Gand Father was Cornelius Fogarty born 1787 in North Carolina. Sadly it is being difficult going back any farther.

Timothy Fogarty (dod 1869) and his wife Mary (Dwyer) Fogarty (dod 1890 Ohio) both born in Ireland around 1830/35 and came to US before 1850. 6 children born in Ohio, John 1857, Michael 1859, Hannah 1861, Mary 1863, Timothy Alonso 1865, James C. 1867. Settled in Dayton, Ohio along with several other Fogarty's. I have found a few links via death certs but all so far say born in Ireland. No city or county. I found a news article in a family book stating Timothy Alonso's son John visited James C. Also Michael and T Alonso both show same parents on death certs. But I haven't yet determined which ship they came on, separate or together.

Thank you for sharing this information. My maiden name is Fogarty. My father was career military and was born in Harlem in 1918, when it was Irish Catholic. My father's name was Thomas C. Fogarty. He had 10 brothers & sisters. I am looking forward to exploring my father's side of the family.
